Using their heavy-lift vessel Leanora, Brady Marine & Civil recently erected the first of the 60 tonne precast girders over the Nerang River for the Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) bridge. A total of 8 girders were erected over a 3 day period to complete the first two of the twelve spans in the bridge.
When completed, the bridge will carry trams for the light rail project across the Nerang River. Brady Marine & Civil have been engaged to construct both the LRV bridge, on the western side, and an adjacent pedestrian and cycle bridge, on the eastern side of the existing road bridge. The bridges feature large-diameter bored piles into hard rock, being successfully installed using Brady’s new Wirth pile top drill. Works are on schedule to hand over for track laying later in the year.
